Contemporary Oak Acoustic Panels | Slat Wall | Showcase Plastics

These Contemporary Oak acoustic panels are slatted wall panels with a real oak veneer face. Narrow oak slats sit on an acoustic felt backing so the wall looks like modern timber lining and the room sounds less harsh.

The finish is a clean, mid oak — “contemporary” rather than rustic or dark smoked. Use Contemporary Oak acoustic panels on a TV wall, stair, office, studio, restaurant or bedroom headboard wall. They add depth that paint cannot, and they take the edge off echo in hard, open rooms.

They are an internal decorative acoustic lining. They reduce reverberation (the bounce of voices and TV). They are not a party-wall soundproofing system and they are not a bathroom / shower panel.

Also known as: oak slat wall, acoustic slat panel, oak veneer acoustic panel, felt-back slat wall, Contemporary Oak slats.

Confirm the exact panel size in stock when you order. The usual UK slat format is around 2400 × 600mm (about 1.44m² per panel) with slats on PET felt; some ranges also offer 3000mm lengths for taller rooms.

Store panels flat and acclimatise them in the room before fixing.

What Contemporary Oak acoustic panels actually do for sound

Hard rooms (plaster, glass, laminate) bounce mid and high frequencies. The slat-and-felt build of Contemporary Oak acoustic panels breaks up and absorbs some of that energy, so speech and TV are clearer and the room feels less “clangy”.

They will not stop next-door bass or make a stud wall into a cinema room on their own. For that you need mass, isolation and a designed build-up. These panels are the visible, useful layer for comfort and looks.

Where they work

  • TV / media walls
  • Living rooms and open-plan dining
  • Home offices and meeting rooms
  • Halls and stair voids
  • Bedrooms and headboard walls
  • Cafés, studios and receptions

Keep them dry. Do not use Contemporary Oak acoustic panels in a shower or as a splashback next to a hob.

How to fit Contemporary Oak acoustic panels

  1. Acclimatise panels in the room.
  2. Wall must be dry, sound and reasonably flat.
  3. Set a true vertical (or horizontal) starting line.
  4. Cut slats and felt with a fine blade; support the face so veneer does not chip.
  5. Fix with panel adhesive, screws through the felt into the substrate, or both.
  6. Butt panels so slat spacing stays even across the joint.
  7. Finish edges with a trim, shadow gap or return.
  8. Dust the slats; do not soak the felt or flood the veneer with polish.

Follow the pack instructions for screw length and adhesive type.

Frequently asked questions

What are Contemporary Oak acoustic panels?
Contemporary Oak acoustic panels are slatted wall panels with real oak veneer slats on an acoustic felt backing.

Do they soundproof a room?
They reduce echo. They do not isolate a party wall on their own.

Is the oak real?
Yes — real oak veneer on the slats, not a printed plastic woodgrain.

Can I use them in a bathroom?
Not in wet zones. Use PVC shower panels there.

Which way up?
Usually vertical slats. Horizontal is possible if the wall and joints are planned.

How many panels?
Wall area ÷ coverage per panel (often 1.44m² on a 2400 × 600 board), plus waste.

Do you fit as well as supply?
Ask us — supply is standard; fitting can be arranged on suitable jobs.

Collection or delivery?
Both. Showcase Plastics, Unit 6, Heybridge Industrial Estate, Maldon CM9 4XL.
